The Superbowl Party turned Tragedy

“The parties may be seated” Judge Mansfield stated and they sat, albeit everyone was quite nervous. This was a high charged case that had gotten a lot of attention nationwide and to add insult to injury, there were a lot of reporters present.

“Will the U.S. attorney please commence? I’d like to get out of here while we’re all still young.”

“That ship has sailed”

“Excuse me?” The judge scolded Melissa Crackenberry the U.S. attorney harshly. Basically fresh out of law school, It might be easy for her to perceive most people as being old. Nevertheless judge Mansfield frowned down upon it.

“State the particulars of the case before I have a heart attack and join The late Betsy Lovett”.

There was a high pitch scream and some sobbing from the gallery and the judge gaveled at his desk.

“On the night of the super bowl” began Attorney Crackenberry, “The Lovett’s hosted a big and lavish spread of a wonderful buffet for a good sized party. Their neighbors, The Cooperfields and lifelong friends John and Tracy Biselski and their three children attended this party. However none of the people in attendance brought any food of their own.”

“Objection your Honor, that is beside the point!” Bellowed Roger Myers, defense attorney to the Cooperfields and John and Tracy Biselski.

“The late Betsy Lovett disclosed to both parties that she was providing a huge buffet of food! So the fact that my parties did not bring any food has nothing to do with this case or the death of Betsy Lovett!”

People began screaming in the gallery and there was hollering and crying and the judge gaveled at his desk angrily.

“Order, order in the court! If you guys don’t shut up I’m going to have you all shackled and hogtied!”

The courtroom of people quieted down. Melissa Crackenberry continued.

“Well allegedly people were hoarding food and many witnesses claimed to have seen The Cooperfields and John and Tracy Biselski and their children putting food in their bags. So when additional unexpected guests crashed the party later on, guess what?!? There was no more food left.”

All was quiet in the courtroom. But Roger Myers stood up.

“Overruled!” Yelled judge Mansfield.

“I didn’t say anything yet!” Protested Roger Myers. The judge shrugged and looked at Melissa Crackenberry as if urging her to continue.

“With the additional party crashers, and the pigs that you are defending having hoarded off the food-

“Objection!” Cried Roger Myers. “My clients are not pigs, they are human beings!”

“Overruled. McCracken, you better get cracking on the rest of your case particulars because I’m so hungry that I’m about to cannibalize all of you and eat you up!!”

There were screams from the gallery and Betsy Lovett’s widow, Samuel began to sob. Melissa Crackenberry continued.

“Your Honor, when the party crashers rummaged around the home looking for food and found none they were getting extremely hungry! Not only that, but the Cooperfields and the Biselskis we’re also hungry. Why? Oh I don’t know; could it be, that they had already hoarded the food and we’re hungry for more?

Because it was being hoarded not eaten. Tragically, Betsy lovett had a huge heart. And she ultimately paid for it with her life by offering the party goers her body as nourishment and sustenance.”

There was a gasp from everyone in the courtroom and sobbing.

“It was already late in the night and there was too much of a wait time for pizza delivery and any other type of restaurant delivery. So there unfolds a tragedy. Betty became filleted and skinned and roasted outside over the pit! And these pigs, Roger Myers, that you are defending, along with the party crashers, pigged out and cannibalized her!”

There was screaming, crying and a fist fight broke out in the gallery. One of the reporters took a bunch of punches to his face. Courtroom officers rushed the scene trying to break up several fights now. The judge gaveled at his desk and stood up.

“This case is dismissed and I am starving! Sayanara!”
